CAIRO: The first court hearing in the case to oust Egyptian Public Prosecutor Abdel Magid Mahmoud and dissolve the Egyptian Public Prosecution is scheduled for September 7, according to the Egyptian Administrative Court. Deputy Egyptian Public Prosecutor Mohammad Fateh el-Bab filed the lawsuit to dismiss Mahmoud and dissolve the prosecutorial office, alleging that the office is a tool of the executive and not an objective arm of the judiciary. El-Bab describes sentences from the prosecution's convictions as “illegal and not objective,” and urges judges not to adhere to them. According to the lawsuit, former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak appointed Mahmoud, and thus he must also be ousted.
