Muammar Gadhafi's adopted daughter Hana, who he said died in a U.S. airstrike in 1986, appears to be alive, according to The Irish Times. Although Gadhafi claimed that Hana was killed by a U.S. airstrike, documents found in the Libyan leader's compound indicate that Hana studied medicine in Tripoli and English at Tripoli's British Cultural Council. The Irish times discovered an exam paper signed Hana Muammar Gadhafi, a photo of “Hana” with Gadhafi's daughter Aisha, and a certificate from 2007 that said Hana received high grades in English classes taken at the British Cultural Council. A German newspaper also obtained documents that place Hana on a list of 23 members of Gadhafi's family whose assets in Swiss banks were frozen. Libyans had suspected Hana's death was fabricated long ago to demonstrate how he was a victim of western military aggression. Gadhafi later encased Hana's bedroom in glass to preserve it, and organized a festival named “Hana's Festival for Freedom and Peace.” Libyan rebels just recently broke into Gadhafi's Bab Azizia compound, raising the opposition's red, green, and black flag.
