Muammar Gadhafi must step down and stop perpetrating massacres against the Libyan people, according to Selim al-Awa, a likely candidate for Egypt's next presidential elections. He added that Gadhafi must consider the reality before “increasing his sins.” In a statement, Selim said the Libyan rebels' control of the capital Tripoli is the beginning of the final stage of the great popular revolution in Libya. He also admired the rebels' announcement of their commitment to mercy and wisdom, saying they didn't fight for revenge but to liberate their country.
