Egyptian and Israeli political and security officials met to discuss how to ease tensions, avoid escalation, and maintain good relations, said a senior Israeli government official.
Israel public radio said Israel intends to cooperate with Egypt in the ongoing investigation regarding the clashes at the Israeli-Egyptian border that led to the death of three Egyptian soldiers and a border guard.
A political source said that Israel is aiding Egyptian authorities regain control over the Sinai area, noting that Israel has recently agreed on the entry of additional Egyptian forces into Sinai for this purpose.
Sharp fall in equity indices Israeli stock market in Tel Aviv
Israeli radio reported that the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange stocks continue to fall due to recent events in southern Israel and the firing of rockets from Gaza.

Israeli president Shimon Peres presented his condolences to the families of the Egyptian security forces who were killed by the Israeli army on Thursday.
Peres said that it is in the best interests of Israel and Egypt to keep the Sinai Peninsula a region of peace.
Maariv newspaper
Tel Aviv promised a harsh response against Hamas after the killing of an Israeli and the wounding of 12 others yesterday.
Deputy Knesset Member "Ophir Connes" said that Israel would strike against Hamas and make them regret the recent events.
In the same context, minister "Yossi Peled," during a tour of southern Israel said that the current situation is intolerable, stressing that Israel is considering all possible options
The two Israelis were killed and 10 wounded, including four seriously injured, on after a missile struck a house in the city of Beersheva on Saturday night.
Four Israeli soldiers were injured after four Grad rockets struck the settlement of Ofakim west of the city of Bathsheba, including the niece of the Minister of Religious affairs Yaakov Marga. Her wounds were described as "serious."

Haaretz chronicled the history of tensions on the Israeli-Egyptian border for the past 20 years, pointing out that the Egyptian-Israeli border has seen various events and tensions of varying intensity. Among the most important events:
• October 1985: An Egyptian soldier opens fire at a Israeli tourists in Ras Burke in the Sinai Peninsula, killing 7 Israelis
• November 2003: A Jordanian citizen at the Arriva border crossing opens fire on a group of tourists returning from Petra, killing a Jewish tourist. The attacker was killed by border guards.
• December 2003: two armed men crossed the Egyptian-Israeli border 33 kilometers north of Eilat, and shot an Israeli vehicle on road No. 12. No one was hurt.
• October 2004: 33 people were killed and more than 100 injured in bomb attacks in the Hilton hotel in Taba.
• July 2005: 88 people, mostly tourists, were killed and 200 were injured when 3 cars exploded in the hotels and restaurants in Sharm el-Sheikh.
• June 2010: The Israeli Kirkal battalion detects the presence of 11 militants about 40 km north of Eilat. They open fire, killing one of them with the rest escaping to Egypt.
