Egypt's National Council will start a campaign to unify political parties and other political blocks in calling for a civil state in Egypt, according to Dr. Mamdouh Hamza, spokesman of the National Council. Hamza added that the campaign will work to form a strong front that can compete with the Muslim Brotherhood (MB). Hamza told Youm7 that the council will hold a meeting on September 5 to form a unified list that can compete in the next parliamentary elections. He added that the National Council is composed of four entities that are the bloc of parties, the bloc of political movements, the bloc of independents, and the bloc of social movements. Hamza expressed his resentment of the split that hit the coalition. He criticized the parties' announcement of forming "the Egyptian bloc" without consulting the council. He said the council is not a part of the bloc. Hamza predicted that the bloc of parties will fail in achieving its objectives as it has the support of only one percent of the voters.
