CAIRO: Thirty-four people were injured in clashes between Mubarak supporters and opponents today, according to Egypt's Ministry of Health. Of those, 24 received first aid on the scene and 10 were transferred to hospitals, according to Adel Adwi, assistant minister of health. Injuries included bruises, cuts and scratches. The number of injuries is expected to increase, as clashes were ongoing at the time of the ministry's statement. The clashes took place outside the Police Academy in Cairo's Fifth Settlement, where the second session of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak's murder trial took place this morning. Mubarak's sons and fugitive businessman Hussein Salem (tried in absentia) are also defendants in the case. They are accused of financial crimes and of murdering demonstrators during Egypt's January uprising that toppled Mubarak from power.
