CAIRO: Egyptian activist Asmaa Mahfouz was released by military prosecutors last night after she posted 20,000 EGP (U.S. $3,400) bail. Mahfouz said other activists collected the bail money and would not let her family pay the bail. She said the other activists considered this an act of solidarity with Mahfouz, who is one of their own. They also refused to reveal who had actually paid the bail. Mahfouz was summoned before Egypt's military prosecutors yesterday morning. In a phone call with the television program ‘Misr Station,' Mahfouz said the military's investigation focused on her criticism of the slowness of the ruling military council's implementation of the demands of the revolution that topped Egypt's authoritarian regime earlier this year. Mahfouz is accused of inciting violence against the military over posts on the social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.
