CAIRO: Maspiro's Youth Union organized a silent protest on Thursday outside the Grand Hyatt hotel against what they considered to be an insult to Coptic Priest Paul Owida. The priest says hotel security forced him to take off his clothes for inspection before passing the electronic gate of the hotel. Hany Ramsis, a member of the political office of the union, said the union expressed its resentment of the action taken against a religious figure who went to attend the so-called "national unity Iftar." He added that the union organized the sit-in to express its anger, demanding the management of the hotel open an investigation into the incident. He said all Egyptians refuse such an incident, which is an insult to a religious figure. He said they didn't chant during their protest to express their appreciation and respect to the Muslims during the time of their fasting. In related news, some Coptic Christians criticized the priest's response to the security's request that he take off his clothes. They viewed that it would have been better to leave the hotel.
