CAIRO: The Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) will host a Ramadan festival in the Sareiatt al-Gabal at the Saladin Citadel of Cairo. This will be the third festival in as many years. The festival will last through Ramadan 20. The festivities will highlight and illustrate the significance of Islamic heritage and will host several symposiums designed to showcase Islamic archeology. In addition to heritage exhibits, there will be art shows, religious chanting and hymns as well as Arabic and Sufi music. There will also be a book fair sponsored by the SCA where customers can receive a 20 percent discount on purchases. A documentary film about archeological sites will also be screened. Children are encouraged to attend and participate in organized workshops like Arabic writing and Aklhyamih Art – a form by which artists paint Islamic shapes on cloth materials.
