The Spanish Supreme Court issued a ruling mandating the continued detention of fugitive Egyptian businessman Hussein Salem, reported Spanish newspaper Diario Sagelo. Salem can pay a bail of five million Euros, which would allow him to be extradited and tried in Egypt. The court issued the decree after Salem claimed he does not have the funds to cover his bail after his assets were frozen in Spanish banks, the paper noted. The authorities also confiscated funds in his house. Since Salem is unable to prove that he cannot provide funds to be extradited, the court decided to reduce his bail to five million Euros, according to the report. The court issued a decision to take necessary measures to verify Salem's allegations and provide a final solution that maintains conditions imposed in its of decree of July 18.
