Sheikh Amer: Mubarak shouldn't be prosecuted
Published in Youm7 on 07 - 08 - 2011

CAIRO: Chairman of Ansar el-Sonna in Damanhur, Sheikh Mahmoud Amer, believes the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's trial is an insult to Egyptians. Amer pointed out it is wrong to trial Mubarak since he is one of the heroes of the October War.
Amer already issued a Fatwa, a religious opinion concerning Islamic law, stating the presidency candidate, Mohamed el-Baradei, should be killed.
All talk shows and more than 500 newspapers received license and worked freely during Mubarak's tenure, Amer said during his call to ‘Al-Haya Al-Youm' program, presented by broadcaster Lobna Assal on Al-Haya channel.
Amer blamed the lawyer of Islamic groups, Montaser el-Zayat, for opposing Mubarak.
“Mubarak wasn't wrong when he sold natural gas to Israel, because this is a political issue working under the balance of power,” Amer said. He pointed Mubarak's deal with Israel isn't wrong because Prophet Mohamed already dealt with them.
El-Zayat's replied to Amer on a program stressing that Mubarak being an October War hero does not justify him stealing people's money and selling Egypt's natural gas to Israel cheap.
El-Zayat said Mubarak sold Egypt's natural gas less than its international price and he pointed Mubarak ordered to arrest and torture 35,000 Egyptians during his tenure.
