Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMS) announced the Egyptian population increased by 1.7 million in 2010. Birth rates rose in 2010 by two percent. There was an increase in Egyptian population by 2.2 million in 2009 while numbers reached 2.26 million in 2010. There has been an increase in baby boys by 1.16 million in 2010. They represented 51.3 percent of total newborns in 2010. Meanwhile, the number of baby boys reached 1.15 million in 2009 and present 51.18 percent of total newborns in Egypt. The number of baby girls reached 1.1 million in 2010 and they represented 48.7 percent of total newborns in Egypt. It should be mentioned these rates do not include births and deaths outside Egypt. The annual report of births and deaths statistics in 2010 indicated Cairo is the top governorate with increasing births rates. Cairo has a record of 207,507 newborns in 2010 and 204,826 newborns in 2009. The rate increased by 1.1 percent. South Sinai is the least governorate in number of births. The number of newborns in South Sinai reached 2,496 in 2010. Meanwhile South Sinai has a record of 2,268 in 2009 with an increasing rate of 10.1 percent. The number of newborns in cities reached 900,085 in 2010. They represent 39.8 percent from a total number of newborns. Meanwhile the number of newborns in cities reached 913,141 in 2009 and reached 41.2 percent increase. The number of newborns in the countryside reached 1,361,324 in 2010, at an increasing rate of 60.2 percent. In 2009 the number of countryside newborns reached 1.3 million at an increasing rate of 58.8 percent. The number of deaths reached 483,385 in 2010 when it was 476,592 in 2009. The number of deaths of males reached 264,703 in 2010 when they were 261,127 in 2009. The number of deaths of females reached 218,682 in 2010 when they were 215,465 in 2009. The governorate of Cairo recorded the highest rate of deaths in all of Egypt's governorates, which reached 70,674 in 2010 and 66,255 in 2009. Also the governorate of South Sinai recorded the least number of deaths in 2010. They reached 566 dead annually. The age group with highest death rate is people aging 70 to more than 75 years old. The number of death in this age group reached 52,544 in 2010. They represented 10.5 percent of all deaths in Egypt. The number of deaths of this age group reached 50,059 in 2009, represent 10.5 percent of all death in Egypt.
