NORTH SINAI, Egypt: Two Egyptian civilians were killed and one injured when hundreds of armed Bedouins attacked a police station in Arish, North Sinai, with heavy weapons. Hundreds of policemen and police officers were injured and admitted to Arish and military hospitals. The attackers tried to break into and burn the police station. Police troops responded by opening fire on them and calling for reinforcements. Dozens of families who live near the station left their homes to avoid the fight. The Bedouins who attacked the station belong to Islamic extremist groups. They reportedly attacked the station because they want to turn Egypt into an Islamic state.
