CAIRO: An estimated 70 people have been injured in clashes in Cairo's Abbasiya neighborhood over the past few hours. Some of them are in critical condition. No deaths have been reported. The clashes took place in Ramsis Street in Abbasiya when unknown elements attacked a group of demonstrators with stones, knives and swords. A group of demonstrators organized a march from Tahrir Square to the Ministry of Defense earlier today. The march was stopped when military police fired shots in the air and unknown persons attacked the demonstrators with stones, knives, and swords. A group of pro-military demonstrators had announced they would march to the Ministry of Defense as well, to “support and defend” it from the Tahrir protesters. In related news, there are rumors that another march will leave Tahrir Square, where demonstrators have been camped out for the past few weeks, to support the first group in Abbasiya.
