CAIRO: A march of demonstrators that left Tahrir Square for the Ministry of Defense was attacked by unknown elements in side streets of Cairo's Abbasiya neighborhood, according to sources on the ground. The march was attached with rocks, knives and bottles filled with a pungent liquid. Police forces in Ramsis Street shot petrol bombs at the demonstrators.Many casualties were sustained. The injured are being transferred to hospitals in ambulances. The demonstrators chanted, “We don't give up, freedom always has a price.” Egyptian military police fired bullets in the air to break up the march, but the protesters kept chanting, “It is a peaceful march.” They also demanded that the army remove the tanks blocking the entrances to Abbasiya so they can continue their march. At that time, unknown elements appeared from side streets with knives and rocks.
