Thousands of Egyptian citizens rallied in Tahrir Square last Friday demanding the government to respond to the demands of the January 25 Revolution and to remove from the governmental institutions all the remnants of the former regime.
The demonstrators expressed their refusal of the new government which includes figures of the former regime. They also insisted on prosecuting former president Hosni Mubarak and other leader figures of his regime.
The media center of the demonstrators of Tahrir Square called the leaders of Egypt's television and ration station to establish a studio that covers the protests from Tahrir Square.
On the other hand, the Islamic Group strongly criticized the protesters at the square, describing them as thugs who are threatening the interests of the country.
Members of the Islamic Group organized a conference after last Friday's prayer to demand evacuating the demonstrators from Tahrir Square and putting an end to their strike.
Al-Ahram
Egypt commemorates the memory of July 23 Revolution on Saturday for the first time after the January 25 Revolution. It is scheduled that the head of the ruling military council, Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, will deliver a speech to the Egyptians in order to congratulate them.
It is expected that Tantawi will demand from Egyptians to focus on working and increasing production. He will say that the plan that has been drawn by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) will start with having parliamentary elections, drafting a new constitution and holding presidential elections.
Israel's judicial authorities will hold the first session of prosecuting three Egyptian children for selling cigarettes and tobacco to Israeli soldiers on the Israeli-Egyptian border.
The Palestinian lawyer, Asmahan Abdel-Hady, volunteered to defend the three children. She told Al-Ahram that the Israeli officer who arrested the children accused them of trespassing into Israel through the borders. She said she is demanding for them to be released because of their young age.
Al-Akhbar
Egypt's Minister of Interior, Mansour al-Issawy, said his ministry will choose the suitable place for Mubarak's trial, especially that it is expected that about 50 thousand citizens will attend the procedure.
Al-Issawy added that he decided to organize for the organizations of civil society and human rights to visit Torah prison in order to make sure that all prisoners are treated equally without any form of discrimination.
Official sources in Washington revealed that U.S Congress will approve an American weapons deal with Egypt despite the opposition of some members of the U.S House of Representatives.
Alan West, a member of the U.S House of Representatives, expressed his refusal of the deal due to the Muslims Brotherhood's increasing activities in Egypt after the January 25 Revolution.
Al-Masry al-Youm
Egypt's Ministry of Interior announced taking new measures to ensure that the law regarding how the police should treat citizens is being enforced and that the principles of human rights are being followed.
The Minister of Interior, Mansour al-Issawy, ordered taking all the required measures to ensure the rights of the citizens are being enforced in front of the police.
Essam al-Erian, the vice president of the Muslim Brotherhood affiliated Freedom and Justice Party, said his party demanded the formation of an efficient government. He said that he recommended a number of people to Essam Sharaf, which he ignored.
Al-Erian said that the new government is meant to lead Egypt in its current transitional phase. The new government represents Egyptians after the ministers of the former regime have been removed, he added.
Al-Shorouq
Several people rallied in Roxy Square in Heliopolis in Cairo to express their support for the ruling military council and their respect to the results of the recent referendum. They also demanded having the demonstrators at Tahrir Square evacuated.
The spokesman of the Islamic Group, Assem Abdel-Maged, called for the silent majority to participate in the million-man demonstration which will be organized next Friday.
During a conference organized by the Islamic Group, Abdel-Maged criticized the secular groups and said that they only work to gain authority.
Al-Gomhoria
Cairo's Criminal Court will resume considering the case of killing peaceful demonstrators. The former Minister of Interior, Habib al-Adly, and his assistants are the main defendants in this case.
Assem Abdel-Magid criticized the demonstrators in Tahrir Square, accusing them of obtaining a billion Egyptian Pounds from the U.S and Israel in order to gain authority.
He said the U.S and Israel are working to control the Ministry of Interior after the incident at the Balloon theatre.
