GIZA, Egypt: A large cache of rocket propelled grenade launchers (RPGs) belonging to two weapons dealers in the Cairo suburb of 6th of October City were confiscated by the Public Administration for Drug Control (PADC) today. Under interrogation the dealers confessed to trading in weapons to protect drug dealers. Both suspects are previous offenders. One was convicted in absentia in over 40 cases; the other was convicted for trading in drugs and weapons. According to the investigation, the suspects escaped from a prison during the security chaos Egypt experienced during the January 25 Revolution. Police officers in the PADC were investigating on suspicions of drug trafficking, but found the suspects in possession of RPGs instead. The police arrested the suspects at a checkpoint in el-Sheikh Zayed neighborhood.
