CAIRO: Egypt's National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) plans to visit Torah Prison, where many prominent members of the toppled regime are imprisoned, including former President Hosni Mubarak's sons. The Council plans to monitor the treatment of prisoners, particularly those who held leadership positions in and or were associated with the now-defunct regime. In related news, the Council launched a hotline for the families of January 25 Revolution martyrs. It also highlighted its condemnation of military trials for civilians, and prepared a list of all civilians tried under military tribunals since the Revolution began. A program of transitional justice seeking to support victims of military trials was also announced. This program outlines a road map for the current transitional period and employs certain approaches to tackle human rights violations.
