CAIRO: Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization And Statistics (CAPMAS) announced there have been 864,857 marriage contrasts during the year of 2010, compared to the 759,004 contracts in 2009, with a noticeable 13.9 percent increase. According to age groups, the highest rate of marriage for men (between 20-30 years old) reached 359,792 with an increase of 41.6 percent. The lowest rate of marriage for those above 65 years old was at a recorded increase of 0.8 percent. As for women (between 20-25 years old), marriage rate increased by 45.9 percent, and the lowest rate among women who are 65 years old reached an increase of 0.1 percent. The CAPMAS report also revealed marriage contracts in towns reaching 354,223 in 2010, representing 41 percent of all marriage contracts comparing to the increase of 52.3 percent in 2009. Regarding marriage in rural society, the contracts reached 476,406, representing 59 percent increase, comparing to the 34,228 recorded 7.2 percent increase in 2009.
