SOUTH SINAI, Egypt: Egypt's Ministry of Interior and the Directorate of Security have not received any information from the Cairo Criminal Court regarding the time and place of the trial of former President Hosni Mubarak, said Mohamed Naguib, the security chief of South Sinai. The trial is scheduled to begin August 3. Naguib said during his interview on the television program 'New Egypt' with Moataz el-Demerdash that it is necessary to address the Security Directorate in order to prepare for the trial. He added that certain matters still need to be prepared including whether the court should be transferred to Sharm el-Sheikh or whether Mubarak should be transferred to the Criminal Court in Cairo amid tight security. He added that the trial cannot be held in the new court that is being built in Sharm el-Sheikh because it is unlikely that the court will be finished within the coming two weeks. The chief of security chief does not permit anyone to visit the former President without the knowledge of security authorities. He said that his lawyer, Fareed el-Deeb, was the last one to visit him. Naguib also denied that Hosni Mubarak had gone into a coma and said he instead experienced the side effects of low blood pressure after standing up suddenly.
