"Go on with your sit-in and don't give up the martyrs' blood.” The mother of Khaled Said began her speech with these words on the stage near Omar Makram Mosque yesterday. She said the slow trials and the release of officers accused of killing demonstrators are considered failures of those in charge. She urged protestors to continue their sit-in until their demands are met and she will be in Tahrir Square today to make sure all the corrupted will face trial. The protests featured the band Cairokee in Tahrir. They started with their famous song, ‘The sound of Freedom,' chosen as one of the best songs expressing the January 25 Revolution. Two plainclothes policemen in Egypt's Mediterranean city of Alexandria beat Khaled Said to death last summer. His death was considered one of the catalysts of the revolution that toppled 30-year ruler Hosni Mubarak and his regime from power.
