Alexandria, Egypt: Thousands of demonstrators congregated around il Kaked Ibrahim Mosque in Alexandria in solidarity with protestors in Tahrir Square in Cairo. Some are even setting up tents to stage a sit-in. Rashad Abdel-Al, spokesman of the Wafd Party in Alexandria, said his party put up hospital tents near the mosque and that the Civic Democratic Alliance, consisting of 30 parties and movements in Alexandria, will organize a march to the Raml Station Square Egypt, which will return to Saad Zaghloul square for a sit-in. Said Ezzeddine, an organizer of the people's civil defense unit, said the People's Committee formed cordons around the protesters to protect them. Mina Girgis, the coordinator of the Coptic Youth Federation at the Alexandria Library, said the federation along with the Maspiro Association for Copts will participate in the protest to protect Muslims during prayer. He also emphasized the demands of the protest which are to examine recent laws and to stop using military trials on civilians.
