Minister of Culture Emad Abu Ghazy intends to work on a project to create a arts complex in Ataba square in Cairo. A proposal was made during a meeting he had with the managers of state theaters. Among the attendees of the meeting were: Mohamed Ali, president of the Beit al-Fani Theater, artist Khaled al-Dahaby, director of the National Theater, artist Jamal Abdul Nasser, director of the Modern Theater, Hamdi Abul Ela, director of the National Folkloric Dance Troupe, Ismail Mogy, director of the Marionette Theater, Shady Sorrour, director of Youth Theatre, and Azza Labib, director of the National Children's Theater. Abu Ghazy stressed in the four-hour meeting that he would not interfere with the policies of each theatre by choosing shows or their duration. One of the objections raised during the meeting was the technical feasibility of festivals, with most theaters complaining of a lack of technical equipment. Abu Ghazy said festivals would receive separate funding. He stressed the importance of organizing festivals during this period, with a focus on cultural, not festive, content.
