CAIRO: The former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathair Mohamed, accused Egyptian media of amplifying the events and the demonstrations in Egypt recently, which will affect the atmosphere of tourism and investment. Mohamed praised Egyptian-Malaysian relations, during his meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Essam Sharaf, and expressed his desire for the Egyptian revolution to push these strong relations forward. He confirmed Egypt's economy started to restore its position. He also said Malaysian students started to return to their universities in Egypt, assuring Egypt can attract Arab and foreign students to study in its educational institutions. Malaysia has more than 100,000 foreign students, which benefits the Malaysian economy. Mohamed suggested an exchange of experiences and more visits among officials from both countries to develop bilateral relations. He expressed optimism for the future of the Egyptian economy, which will attract more investments in the upcoming stage. On the other hand, Dr. Sharaf described the Egyptian-Malaysian relations as historic, saying there is coordination between both countries in different issues. Sharaf praised the Malaysian experience, which managed to achieve notable development, and added it is Egypt's aspiration to implement similar experience.
