CAIRO: Egypt's tourism goods sector has reached a deficit of 5 million EGP over the past five months, according to the chairman of the Chamber of Tourist Bazaars and Goods, Mohammed al-Qattan. Al-Qattan added that the situation of the tourism sector indicates that the financial crisis of the chamber could not be ended during the coming period. He called for activating Law No. 16 of 2004, which provides that all tourism shops shall be subjected to the Chamber and the Ministry of Tourism as a way to prevent the evasion of paying membership fees to the chamber. Under the law, hotels and tourist villages shall not allow the opening of bazaars and shops without permission from the ministry and the chamber.
