A Spanish website said that it does not expect the fugitive Egyptian businessman, Hussein Salem, to return to Egypt especially because Salem himself expressed his refusal to return. Despite Salem's refusal, Spanish authorities are taking legal measures to return Salem to Cairo where he would be prosecuted for exporting Egyptian gas to Israel at low prices as well as illicitly taking $ 750 million as commissions. The website said that Spanish authorities revealed that he holds the Saudi nationality, which would hold back his return to Egypt. The website added that Spain froze Salem's banking assets that reached 32.5 million Euros. On top of these assets, Salem owns properties and cars that are approximately worth $ 10 million. Salem has been charged with a bail of 27 million Euros. He is currently receiving treatment in a Spanish hospital because he suffers from heart and nervous problems. Public prosecution has put Salem under house arrest to prevent him from escaping.
