CAIRO: In an attempt to increase pressure to put a new constitution before holding the upcoming elections, the Free Front for Peaceful Change (FFPC) launched a campaign in coordination with other political powers to collect 15 million signatures for what they call a “constitution first.” The campaign called upon the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) to form committees including different national figures to prepare a new constitution before running election. Only 11 articles of the constitution are amended and not all the articles of the constitutional declaration. FFPC political member, Ahmed Abu Khalil, called to cancel the constitutional declaration. He said they distributed forms in 12 governorates to collect the required number of signatures. The priority of the constitution or election raised many questions during the past period and caused divisions among national political powers.
