ROMA: Not a single tourist has been hurt since the January 25 Revolution, said the Minister of Tourism, Mounir Fakhry Abd el-Nour, to tourist agencies in Rome.
Egypt's touristic places are completely safe, said el-Nour after several meetings that were held in Rome.
These meetings are very important in assuring Italians with regards to Egypt's security.
He added that it is important to use networks of communication, which the youth of the revolution used to gather millions of people in Tahrir square. These networks are also useful in promoting tourism in Egypt, said el-Nour.
According Abd el-Nour, tourism in Egypt is improving.
While rates decreased by 80 percent in February, they decreased by 60 percent in March.
Abd el-Nour expects that tourism will return to its usual rates by September 2011. The Ministry of Tourism is holding a great campaign on Italian television, encouraging Italians to visit Egypt.
Abd el-Nour said the Ministry of Tourism aims to increase the number of tourists so that it reaches 11 million by the end of this year. It aims also to stop the decrease to 20 percent comparing with last year.
