Salafi preacher Abu Ishaq al-Hewany clarified a controversial speech called ‘The Slave,' which criticized Youm7, in another speech. He said his initial speech was only transferring information according to provisions of jihad – holy war – and that did not call for its application. He attacked Youm7 in his statement and described its writers as ‘ignorant.' Heweny said he may change his opinion regarding some provisions of legitimacy by he never changes his opinions related to Islamic doctrine. Heweny said if a Muslim army wins a war, all the citizens of the losing side are considered as spoils and slaves. He added, however, that the statement was only to clarify the judgment in Islamic law and not to be applied in society. He said the lesson was about jihad and not about spreading Islam. He does not recommend jihad to spread Islam, he said. Heweny also denied that he claimed to occupy another country in order to fund Egypt. Heweny asked Salafis to prepare strategy in order to face the attack against them. He said the former regime had made deals with the Salafi, adding that the former regime was already busy with attacking the Muslim Brotherhood. Heweny said the former regime supported the secular and liberal currents which were opposing Islam to disable the Salafi movement. He described that organization of Al-Azhar as the biggest obstacle Salafis face.
