GIZA, Egypt: Police have arrested the man who is accused of killing a Salafi preacher and his wife in Giza, a district in the greater Cairo area. Salafi sheikh Ahmed Amer and his wife were found dead in their apartment in Haram, the neighborhood next to Egypt's famous Giza pyramids. The sheikh was gagged and bound on the floor and his wife, Mona, had been stabbed to death on her bed. An investigation revealed that the accused, M.A., 31, was a friend of the sheikh. He was arrested after two weeks of investigations with over 560 people. It is believed he killed the couple as he tried to rape the sheikh's wife. The victim was a disabled man who taught the Islamic traditions. He had no enemies. His wife married him in order to assist him.
