CAIRO: Deposed Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak will face trial on August 3 for his role in killing demonstrators during the 18-day popular revolution which toppled him from power earlier this year. The Egyptian Court of Appeals announced that Mubarak, his sons, and Egyptian businessman Hussein Salem will appear in the North Cairo Criminal Court chaired by Ahmed Fahmy Refaat on August 3. Mubarak is charged with killing demonstrators in the January 25 Revolution, profiteering and taking commissions to illegally export Egyptian gas to Israel along with Salem. Mubarak's sos, Alaa and Gamal are also accused of profiteering and stealing public money. Arabic here
