Egypt's Minister of Culture was outraged yesterday when he was asked to show his ID and submit to a security inspection before entering the Tourism Activation Festival yesterday. Lt. Col. Zein Saad asked to check Minister Emad Abu-Ghazi's ID before admitting him to the festival. The minister requested to be allowed in without the security check, but Saad refused his request. Saad said the minister's decision to enter through the visitor's gate rather than through the gate specified for cars meant he could not avoid the security check. Saad insisted that Abu-Ghazi submit to the security inspection, telling the minister he must go through the same inspection as any other citizen, as the security measures are applied without discrimination. Before leaving the Citadel, where the festival was held, Abu-Ghazi shook hands with Saad.
