Mubarak, a pre-charged prisoner
Published in Youm7 on 26 - 05 - 2011

CAIRO: Egyptian General Prosecutor Abdel Magid Mahmoud coordinated with Minister of Interior Mansour al-Essawi to transfer former President Hosni Mubarak to Torah Prison hospital, a judicial source said.
The source added Mubarak's trial will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, far from Cairo and more secure for holding the trial. It is most like that Giza Judicial jurisdiction No.17, chaired by al-Mohamady Qonsowah, will go to Sharm el-Sheikh to prosecute Mubarak.
There are also media reports claiming Judicial jurisdiction No. 4 of South Cairo, headed by Abdel Salam Gomaa, could prosecute Mubarak.
Medical sources confirmed that Mubarak wore the white suit (cloths of pre-charge detention) for the first time yesterday.
Meanwhile the manager of Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital, Mohammed Fathallah, said the medical committee checked Mubarak conditions and his report will be submitted to the General Prosecution.
Moreover the Ministry of Interior did not officially announce Mubarak's transfer to Torah Prison Hospital, a security source from the Ministry of Interior said.
The source added if the Ministry had notified, it should carry out its claim as it concerns law enforcement.
Furthermore the security source said the Prisons sector did not receive any instructions to prepare the cell receiving Mubarak or how and when he will be transferred.
The source confirmed the sector can't consider Mubarak's file until he is transferred to the Prison as a pre-charge prisoner.
The sector is not concerned with Mubarak's process of transfer. The medical committee did not inspect the Torah hospital since the former top forensic physician Ahmed al-Sebaei appointed first medical.
Torah hospital is a one-floor building includes two wards, one of which has 10 beds while the other has 12 beds. The hospital also includes abdominal, dental clinics as well as intensive care unit.
Mubarak is now the responsibility of the Supreme Council of the Armed forces (SCAF), which is charged with Egypt's adminsitration, and the South Sinai security directorate. If transferred to Torah prison, Mubarak will be treated as pre-charge prisoner until passing judicial verdicts against him.
According to prison regulation, pre-charge detainees can get food from outside the prison until proven guilty and imprisoned.
