Egypt is discussing the importance of keeping vulnerable crafts and industries alive by ensuring craftsmen are trained to carry on the arts. The Chamber of Touristic Commerce and a number of new members of the Governing Council in collaboration with the Centre and Partnership Unit will discuss tomorrow certain procedures including the rehabilitation of new employment in a number of industries and crafts that have become vulnerable to extinction, especially in remote areas such as Wadi Gedid. The Chamber will also discuss final procedures of starting up training centers in Cairo and Luxor for handicrafts, textiles and ceramics with a mind to extend the activities to other governorates. The Chamber also discussed a training project prepared for Wadi Gedid governorate at a cost of approximately $900,000. The project must first be approved by the Ministry of Tourism before it can be implemented.
