CAIRO: Dar Al-Hayat publishing house will be issuing a new book within days titled ‘The Great Egyptian Revolution' by author and journalist Ihab Omar. In his book, Ihab Omar follows the journey of the Egyptian Revolution from January 25 until the final fall of the former regime and the trials of prominent figures. The book also focuses on the dissolution of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Ahmed Shafiq's cabinet and State Security Forces. The author reveals details and information published for the first time, such as information about the beginning of the revolution in Suez on January 22. The book will also feature documents from Wikileaks that have not been published before about the relationship between Washington and the Egyptian opposition. The book will reveal the relationship of some Arab countries with the U.S. and the author sought to draw a comprehensive picture of the regional system before and during the January 25 Revolution. The book discusses the real role of Hosni Mubarak in the October 1973 War, as well as details of former President Anwar Sadat's assassination to understand October 1981, and speculates the extent of the involvement of Hosni Mubarak in these events. The book addresses the reasons that led to the revolution, and claims who were supporting and who stood against the revolution in the early days. The book reveals a press statement of Mohamed el-Baradei in the early days of the revolution, expressing his surprise at the revolution. El-Baradei said it was not expected that people would create the revolution but his remarks were not published by the Egyptian media for unknown reasons. This is the sixth book by Ihab Omar. Other prominent books were the ‘British Gulf' published in 2008 and ‘The Oppressed of the Republic' published in 2010.
