CAIRO: Egypt's Minister of Petroleum said the diesel crisis is not his Ministry's responsibility. He added that the crisis is now over and the current situation is better. Minister of Petroleum Mohamed Ghorab said Egypt's production can meet only 75 percent of Egyptian need. He said Egypt is not an oil-exporting country. The minister said all petroleum needs are met and confirmed that the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation is committed to meet all Egyptian citizens' needs despite the unprecedented consumption that reached 40,000 tons. He stressed to the Petroleum sector to plan pumping larger quantities of oil to surpass the normal consumption. Ghorab said the ministry managed to control the unprecedented increase in consumption recently. He blamed the shortage in oil stations for the unfair distribution of oil.
