Poet Faris Khedr, Chairman of the Media Committee of the Writers' Union, will submit a proposal to the Board of Directors of the union during its next meeting regarding the founding of a literary newspaper not limited to union members. Kheder told Youm7 that the goal of this newspaper is to work to connect creative Egyptians and Arabs with each other, and be the voice of the Egyptian Writers' Union at home and abroad. Kheder said the idea is basically a response to the suggestions of several members, who nominated themselves for election in the Union on April 29, and many of the candidates who called for the abolition of the Union's periodical for not living up to expectations. Khedr said he would discuss the idea with members of the Governing Council to regarding the content and editorial policy of the proposed publication and said if the proposal is approved becoming editor in chief is not important as he already has a major role in the union. Far more important, he said, is that the Union contributes and nurtures culture and creativity in Egypt.
