CAIRO: Egypt delayed this year's Cairo International Film Festival. The decision was made as a result of the continuing political events happening in Egypt. Egypt's Minister of Culture, Dr. Emad Abu Ghazi, blamed the decision on Egypt's current economic problems, the approach of Egypt's parliamentary and presidential elections and the reformulation of the constitution. Abu Ghazi asked the National Center of Cinema to find a solution on how to develop such festivals and for help to organize and financially support Egyptian cinema. Although Abu Ghazi delayed the 2011 Experimental Theatre Festival, he is already making preparations for the same festival in 2012. Arabic here.
