CAIRO: Dozens of Coptic Christians continued their sit-in outside Maspiro, the Egyptian Television and Radio headquarters, today. They are demanding prosecution of all those involved in Saturday night's clashes in Imbaba. The have refused to end their sit-in until their demands are met. Demonstrators said rebuiling the church would not be enough – they want public accountability of those responsible for setting the Virgin Mary Church on fire. Demonstrators chanted slogans directed at their Prime Minister –"Essam, Copts are in a sit-in" – as well as at the Coptic Pope – “Pope Shenouda, Christians' blood became a fashion” – and other chants: "We will not stay at home, we brought our shrouds and came to die." Five Muslims and five Christians died and over 200 were injured in Saturday night's clashes in Imbaba, a poverty-stricken neighborhood in Cairo. Copts comprise around 10 percent of the Egyptian population. Arabic here.
