CAIRO: Egyptian military forces caught weapon and drug smugglers on the way to Libya through Sallum border crossing on Tuesday. Military forces cooperated with the police and arrested 15 smugglers. The smugglers tried to smuggle live bullets, guns, knives, and drugs to Libya and also attempted to smuggle gold from Libya to Egypt. All the smugglers have been detained and sent to Marsa Matroh, a town in western Egypt close to the Libyan border, for investigation and prosecution. Furthermore, the armed forces and the police confiscated a workshop for manufacturing weapons that are sold to foreign countries. Arabic and photo gallery here.
