Ahli have voiced their frustration over the failure to grant the squad Schengen visas ahead of the pre-season camp in Austria. The Reds were supposed to fly to Vienna on June 14, but are now forced to wait after the Austrian embassy rejected their visa application. “The Austrian embassy suspended our visas, claiming they have a busy schedule and that the time is not right!” Ahli football director Sayed Abdul-Hafiz told the club's website. “The excuse is unconvincing and the embassy's stance is inexplicable. We will contact the Egyptian Foreign Ministry because we have an important competition to prepare for.” Ahli will open their 2012-2013 campaign with a crunch challenge against Mazembe of DR Congo in the CAF Champions League group stage on July 8. The Egyptian champions were expected to play three warm-up games in Austria, but could now be forced to change plans.
