Zamalek are calling for a joint protest with Cairo neighbors Ahli against the venue of CAF Champions League group rivals Chelsea. Ghanaian champions Chelsea, who make their Champions League debut, will host Zamalek in the Group B opener in July before taking on Ahli at Coronation Park a month later. Zamalek have voiced their concern over their opponent's home ground though, calling on six-time champions Ahli to back their case. “We need to work together with Ahli to find a solution to the problem of Chelsea's home ground,” Zamalek board member Ibrahim Youssef told the club's website. “Group stage matches should be held at legal venues that have full safety measures, not just secondary stadiums not equipped to host big games. “We should look into the regulations of CAF and inform them about finding the suitable venue to host the matches.” Chelsea's Coronation Ground has a capacity of 10,000 supporters and it is believed that the pitch condition is poor.
