Egyptian league leaders Harras Hodoud edged out Arab Contractors 3-2 to make it seven wins on the trot as Ismaili claimed a 1-0 win at Wadi Degla. A brace from Ahmed Mekki and a goal by Mohamed Shaarawi lifted Hodoud against goals from Alaa Kamal and Mohamed Salah in Cairo. The Alexandrians extended their record run to seven straight wins as they remain in charge of the Premier League table with five points separating them from their closest rivals. A freekick by full-back Ahmed Samir Farag before half time made the difference for Ismaili at Green Mountain, with hosts Degla squandering a host of chances to make amends. Elsewhere, Helmi Toulan led Police Union to second place with a 2-0 win over former club Petrojet, courtesy of a first-half double from striker Khaled Kamar. In Port-Said, Egypt U-20 striker Ahmed Sherweda scored the only goal of the game to hand Masri a 1-0 win over Bani Suef Telephones. The shock result of the day came from Mahalla, with Ghazl Mahalla registering their first win of the season by edging the poor ENPPI 2-1. Foreign duo Samuel Ousso and Sam Nouhoun Thiam made the difference for the Peasants, with another African scoring ENPPI's late consolation in Mozambique's Mano. It is the fifth loss in eight games for cup champs ENPPI, more than half of their total defeats during the whole of last season.
