Ahli have denied allegations that Manuel Jose will be investigated for his involvement in the controversial transfer of youngster Ahmed Hassan 'Kuka' to Portugal's Rio Ave. Egypt U-20 striker Kuka took advantage of his amateur contract with Ahli and suddenly flied to Portugal to join the Liga Sagres side without his old club's consent in the summer. The move raised a few eyebrows inside the Cairo club, with reports claiming that Jose was involved in sending the teenager via his son Rui, who is a football agent. The reports were triggered by Brazilian agent Paulo Teixeira, who accused Jose of brokerage before the latter vowed to file a lawsuit against him. Subsequently, Ahli denied holding the Portuguese coach responsible in the case by issuing a statement on the club's website. The Egyptian champions also vowed to start legal procedures in order to 'preserve the club's rights after Kuka's runaway'. Ahli revealed that that they have been compensated with €270,000 by Greek side Panionios, who signed former youngster Ahmed Magdi in a similar way back in 2004.
