Police forces will be responsible for the security of Egyptian Premier League matches, the Ministry of Interior has announced. The decision is expected to be met with a state of relief after the ministry's initial statement put pressure on clubs to secure matches on their own, giving the police a secondary role. However, several parties within the football field voiced their concern with the notion, eventually prompting Interior Minister Mansour Al-Essawi to give a new order. The Egyptian Premier League will be resumed on Wednesday after a break more than two months in the wake of the January 25 Revolution. The resumption of the domestic competition was put under scrutiny following the chaotic events that marred Zamalek's continental clash with Club Africain earlier this month.
