Mokhtar Mokhtar has agreed to take charge of Saudi club Wehda, the Egyptian coach said on Sunday. "I initially rejected the idea of working outside Egypt but Wehda's offer tempted me to work in Saudi Arabia," Mokhtar said in a television interview. "Staying in Mecca (a holy city for Muslims) would be great for me." Mokhtar surprisingly left Egyptian Premier League side Masri last month following a 3-1 defeat by promoted Smouha. Reports said that he handed in his resignation but he insisted he was axed by Masri, who made a fine start to the season under the former Ahli player. "I'm not inexperienced to resign after one or two draws. But anyway, I'm satisfied with my spell at Masri," Mokhtar, who was succeeded by Swiss tactician Alain Geiger, added. Wehda dismissed French coach Jean Christian Lang following their 3-2 defeat by Raed in the Saudi league last week. The club lie ninth in the 14-team table with 16 points from 15 games.
