Zamalek's Emad wants to follow in the footsteps of Meteb
Published in FilGoal on 24 - 10 - 2010

Zamalek's want-out striker Emad Mohamed believes there is nothing unacceptable in his request to terminate his contract with the Whites, saying Emad Meteb did the same with Standard Liege in the summer.
Ahli hitman Meteb, who will be eligible to feature for the Red Devils again starting January, signed for Belgian side Standard in the close season but backed out of the deal few days after it went through.
The Egypt international put his abrupt departure down to personal issues, citing his 'brother's severe illness' and problems related to his military status as reasons for his decision to leave.
Meteb, who later penned a new deal with Ahli, faced a baptism of fire for his controversial exit from Standard.
However, Iraq's Emad is convinced that the 27-year-old did nothing wrong and now seems to be following in his footsteps.
"I want to declare my contract with Zamalek null and void in a friendly way and then start to look for a new offer," he told Modern TV.
"This case is similar to Emad Meteb's when he signed for Standard Liege. He put pen to paper but terminated his contract for personal reasons.
"I can't take part in training and it's really bad for everyone."
Emad, who was repeatedly slated by Zamalek's football director Ibrahim Hassan for his attitude, said he wants to part ways with the Cairo club because his family couldn't settle down in Egypt.
He's also believed to be unhappy with lack of first-team opportunities with Zamalek, the club he joined in the close season after his contract with Iran's Sepahan Esfahan expired.
