Zamalek are looking to tie winger Shikabala down to a new deal despite his off-field problems that culminated in him leaving the team's pre-season training camp without permission. Shikabala, who is usually accused of failing to live up to his potential due to some childish acts, could extend his Zamalek contract in the near future, according to his agent Samir Abdul-Tawab. The 24-year-old's current deal will expire in January 2012. "Zamalek want to keep hold of Shikabala. We are currently in talks with the club's board to prolong his stay," Abdul-Tawab told FilGoal.com on Thursday. Belgian giants Anderlecht have been tracking Shikabala for the majority of the summer but could not reach an agreement with Zamalek over his transfer. The Cairo side rebuffed their approaches for the talented left-footed player, who is a key member of the team's squad. Shikabala abandoned Zamalek's training camp after being reportedly insulted by coach Hossam Hassan during a friendly game. He apologized for his actions and reported back for training few days later but the club said he would be punished. "Shikabala's discipline is not at the same level as his undoubted talent," Zamalek football director Ibrahim Hassan said. "He will be heavily fined for his recurring mistakes." Hassan did not disclose the amount of the fine but FilGoal.com learned that Shikabala would be deducted EGP 160,000.
