Diego Maradona's reign as Argentina coach came to an end as the Football Association voted unanimously against his stay. Despite earlier signs of an extension, a meeting with AFA president Julio Grondona has not be fruitful for the Argentine legend. "The president put some salient points to Maradona in their long conversation yesterday," AFA spokesman Ernesto Cherquis said. "And the executive committee unanimously resolved not to renew Maradona's contract as technical director of the national teams." Maradona took the Argentina job in November 2008, but was often criticized for being out of experience. After securing a hard-fought berth to the World Cup, the Albiceleste crashed out of the tournament with a 4-0 defeat to Germany in the quarter-final.
