Ahli offered Emad Meteb a new lucrative three-year contract to persuade him into backing out of his deal with Standard Liege and signing a new one at the Cairo club, FilGoal.com understands. The Egypt hitman made it loud and clear that he will complete his move to Belgium's Standard in the near future, playing down rumors that he could sign a new deal with Ahli. However, the Egyptian champions increased their bid for the 27-year-old to EGP 11 million in a fresh attempt to see him change his mind. Meteb, whose contract with Ahli ran out this summer, signed a pre-contract with Standard amid serious efforts from the Red Devils to keep hold of him. It is understood that the former Ittihad Jeddah marksman had initially called on Ahli to pay him EGP 13 million for an extension before accepting Standard's offer. Meteb is traveling to Standard on Monday to complete his move. He said that may ponder a new deal with Ahli only if he encounters problems at the Liege-based club.
